Hillary lettered in softball four years and in basketball three years. Also, she received the following honors at RHS:

In 2009 Hillary was the recipient of the Allan K. Pruett scholarship which is awarded to the individual judged to be the outstanding athlete as a senior.
Hillary also made all-conference in basketball in junior high in 2005 and 2006.

Various newspaper clippings from Hillary’s high school career stated the following:
Hillary Calhoun notched a double-double, scoring 14 points and securing 13 rebounds. In her senior year Calhoun led the team in scoring against Turrell with 16 points. Against Caraway she had 14 points. She led Rector against BIC with 22 points...against Marked Tree, she had 13 points; against Cross County she had 11 points. In the NEA tournament against Hillcrest she ‘led the way with a game-high 26…’. In the game against Cross County she ‘led the way with 16 points’.
At the end of the season of her senior year, her coach Mark Manchester is quoted as saying: “…our seniors have given so much. Hillary in particular has been to the regional tournament the last three years and is probably the winningest female basketball player in the school’s history”.
Calhoun comes through: With Buffalo Island Central obviously committed to holding down Parsley in the tournament final, junior Hillary Calhoun responded in a big way. Known for her tenacity and all-around hustle, she exploded for 20 points and 12 rebounds and seemed to get to every loose ball on the court.
Proof that it was Calhoun's night came at the first-half buzzer, when her three-point attempt hit the rim, flew high into the air and then dropped through the net to give the Lady Cougars a 31-24 lead at intermission.
Her coach is quoted as saying: “Hillary Calhoun just went crazy out there for us. She's quite a player.”
In her junior year against Riverside she scored 11 points. In her sophomore year against Earle she scored 11 points.
In softball: Freshman Hillary Calhoun will share time at third base and catcher. Calhoun has good speed and a strong arm.
